The Doctor's Visit

Just an FYI: I don't have internet at home right now (it's been in-and-out, but now it's pretty much just out), so there might be some delays with emails and posts.

The doctors visit went well. I ran into a woman from the IFA in the waiting room who was a little shocked that I was there by myself, but I explained I have been to the same doctor (an ENT specialist) twice before with Japanese-speaking friends and now know enough basic words or have a dictionary to explain my symptoms. It was nice to have someone to talk to, though, and I didn't have to wait very long.

Once I was ushered into the chair and talked to the doctor, who definately remembered me too. The three nurses hovered over me again, but it wasn't as hard as I expected to communicate what I needed and figure out what the doc was saying. The visit went pretty similarly to what I experienced this summer. I sat there while the doctor attached a long, metal tube to various sorts of bottles of liquids and then sprayed the stuff up my nose. The first liquid stung, but the last one was so painful this time that I actually yelled out in pain. That was not very fun and I still don't know what he used, but whatever the mystery liquid was, it did temporarily clear out my sinuses. The doctor inspected my nose and head, asked some questions and then it was over. I was ushered over to the little tube station again (where I had to stick the plastic tubes up my nose and breath in). This time, I was amused by the signs and toys advertising the new office mascot, the germ named NERD:

(here is a flyer I took)

I would say the whole adventure took about an hour. The doctor prescribed me four medications lasting one week and they are all in pill form this time. All in all, the visit was short and easy and I am kind of proud that I did it alone. Hopefully I won't have to go back anytime soon, though.

In the meantime, I think I am teething (wisdom teeth coming in... after I was told for years and years that I wouldn't need them out, hmphf) so there are probably more adventures to come from the dentist. More on that later :-P
