Fire in Osaka

Living in Japan, fire can be a pretty scary thing. Essentially all of the older houses and structures are made of wood (many now being replaced by concrete), every house has (bamboo-) grass floors and we use a lot of gas in everyday life (to cook, heat water, heat our rooms). Also consider that more people have died from post-earthquake fires than from the initial damage caused by the trembler.

Untimely death is a tragedy and my heart goes out to these people's families, but on the topic of fires in Japan, I am going to venture to assume that these people never saw it coming.
